SUMMARY:Ollee Owens: Sunday October 16 2022
DESCRIPTION:Ollee Owens – SOLD OUT\nWith a lyrical mastery that speaks on all of life’s moments paired with a dynamic voice that reveals a well-travelled soul and the burning embers of passion within\, Ollee Owens is a musical force of nature. Combining burning intensity with elegant grace and skilled composure wrapped in an electrifying blues rock veneer\, the result is an unforgettable\, emotionally charged musical experience that moves both body and soul\, creating a lasting connection through shared experiences and love of good music. \nRaised in the Canadian Prairies\, music was always around Owens growing up. Artists such as Elvis\, Odetta\, The Band\, Mavis Staples\, and Bob Dylan were formative in her teen years. But more than just listening\, she took comfort in writing her own songs\, seeing music as a way to process the chaotic nature of life and give visibility to her own feelings. And even when Owens took a 15-year respite in order to raise a family\, she never fully put a cap on her passion for music\, volunteering as a music therapist\, occasionally performing\, and always continuing to write songs. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $20 TicketsSOLD OUT: \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Out of stock \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n That hiatus would meet its end in 2015 at the famed Calgary venue The Blues Can where the late great Bill Dowey caught her performance at his “Blues Sunday School” jam and was immediately drawn to her raw and passionate sound\, becoming one of her biggest supporters. Encouraged by the positive reception from audience and industry pros alike\, Owens decided to pursue her dream of a career in music. \nAnd that career kicked off in a big way for Owens\, performing at countless community and private events\, sharing the stage with the best and brightest of the local music scene\, and travelling the provinces to play on small stages and amphitheatres. Her 2021 breakout single “Every Step of the Way”\, firmly set her intentions as a talented artist who deals in authenticity\, openness\, and honesty paving the way for a lasting musical connection. \nOwens’ upcoming album due for release this summer\, Cannot Be Unheard\, is an exploration of life birthed from her own relatable experiences\, both good and bad\, and the lessons learned along the way. With the rock-tinged reckoning of knowing there’s something more out there in Edge of Goodbye\, the smouldering warning of thoughtless words in Raging Fire\, and the soulful declaration of love in Through the Darkest Night\, the songs in Cannot Be Unheard touch on Owens’ ethos of moving through the world with intention\, love\, and the affirmation that one is worthy of the happiness that life offers. \nEager to keep moving forward\, Owens plans to hit the road following the release\, performing at more festivals and concerts throughout the country while setting her sights towards her next album. \nMusic does so much more than entertain. It gives a voice to a wide breadth of experiences and feelings\, touching those looking for a connection. It has the power to heal wounds and be a welcoming source of light and comfort in the darkness. It’s for all those reasons and more that Ollee Owens keeps singing\, lighting the path for her fellow travellers on the long road of life. \nOutdoor concert scheduled at Calgary House Concerts Boulton Road location \n2022 Lawnchair Series #5 with Ollee Owens@ “The House” 3344 Boulton Road NW\, Calgary\nSunday October 16\, 2022 @ 3:00 PMDoors at 2:30pm$20 CoverGrab a ticket or RSVP to: calgaryhouseconcerts@gmail.com \nLinks:\nWebsite: olleeowens.comSpotify: open.spotify.comFacebook: facebook.com/OlleeOwensInstagram: instagram.com/OlleeOwensTwitter: twitter.com/OlleeOwensYoutube: youtube.com

SUMMARY:Ken Stead: Thursday September 15 2022
DESCRIPTION:Ken Stead\nKen Stead already has a firm foothold in the Canadian roots community\, having graced the grassy stages and sessions of Edmonton Folk Fest\, Canmore Folk Fest\, and North Country Fair\, as well as rowdier venues like Main Stage Big Valley Jamboree\, the Calgary Stampede Coke Stage and Wild Mountain Festival. Whether playing solo\, or with his 5 piece band\, Ken Stead makes every room feel like home. A generous demeanor\, a delicate wit\, and an empathetic understanding of audiences of all shapes\, his performances are as true and honest as the songs themselves. \nKen is known for silencing a room to a whisper\, but with his new release\, Civil War\, he proves capable of starting an uproar. With more volume\, comes more space to make heartfelt moments rattle through your chest. Guitars\, bass and drums punctuate charged lyricism and lived experience. It’s full and dynamic roots rock\, with an emphasis on connecting with an audience\, born from Stead’s keen musical interest in both folk and hip hop. \nProduced by Winston Hauschild (Hannah Georgas\, Hey Ocean)\, and mixed by Canadian legend Howie Beck (Barenaked Ladies\, Feist\, Walk Off The Earth)\, Civil War is an earnest portrait of the domestic\, the conflicts present in the everyday\, and how one’s struggle with themselves and their own faults bleed into their relationships with others\, how that mirrors the larger political climate. Throughout the record\, Stead grapples with his firm belief that peace begins with the individual. “Trouble” is a song that combines roots rock with 80’s synth danceability. With the grit and strength in Ken’s voice\, he captures the moment you realize you’re in some sort of trouble\, but knowing that trouble is exactly what you’re looking for. Tracks like “I’m Done Trying” are strong and self-critical\, pining to understand the other with empathy and the earned conviction of its power-chords. “Why You Afraid Of The Dark” is a roots/soul song tackling the fear of facing the hard times with soulful piano\, groovy rhythms\, and a hook that will having you singing along. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Pre-Purchase Your Tickets:$20 (incl Dinner)\nKen Stead LIVETHURSDAY SEPT 15thShowtime 7:00p / Doors 6:30pCHC Brentwood “The House”3344 BOULTON ROAD NW – T2L 1M4OUTSIDE CONCERTIndoors if inclement weather \nSecure Checkout via Stripe or PaypalSelect Ticket Quantity: \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Out of stock \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Outdoor concert scheduled at Calgary House Concerts Boulton Road location \n2022 Lawnchair Series with Ken Stead@ “The House” 3344 Boulton Road NW\, Calgary\nThursday September 15\, 2022 @ 7:00 PMDoors at 6:30pm$20 CoverGrab a ticket or RSVP to: calgaryhouseconcerts@gmail.com \nLinks:\nWebsite: www.kenstead.netReverbNation: www.reverbnation.com/kensteadYouTube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCU6eVXNb2MHE5IuHuNxTc-w/videosFacebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Ken-Stead/129609523882224

SUMMARY:Heartwood: Sunday June 26
DESCRIPTION:Heartwood\nJack Connolly and Genevieve Charbonneau\nHoney-soaked folk with a hint of indi and a splash of bluegrass\, Heartwood radiates exuberant joy with every irresistible song. From the hearth of their rural Pacific northwest homestead Jack Connolly and Genevieve Charbonneau serve up the pulse and passion of rollicking recession laments\, driving celtic love songs and witty (and ironic) debates on the ways they don’t go together. Their quirky naturalness\, endearing humor and raw talent stir affection and warm the blood while their powerful roots draw up a nutrient rich brew of sound bringing warmth and energy to all who gather around the table to listen. \nWhen Jack and Genevieve met in 2018\, Jack was a rising country star playing stages with Tom Cochrane and Colin James\, and Genevieve was a homesteading mama who had recently won the BC Songwriting Competition\, but as soon as they sang together they knew their lives were changed. Jack offered to produce Genevieve’s “Heart is a Tower” album\, which reached #15 in the NA Folk Charts. Inspired by that project\, they cooked up the Heartwood duo\, finding immense joy in singing harmonies and playing on each other’s songs. \nOutdoor concert scheduled at Calgary House Concerts Boulton Road location \n2022 Lawnchair Series #3 with Heartwood \nSunday June 26\, 2022 @ 2:30 PM $20 CoverGrab a ticket or RSVP to: calgaryhouseconcerts@gmail.com \n \n \n \n \n \n Lawnchair Series #3:   “The House” 3344 Boulton Road NW\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $20 TicketsSelect Ticket Quantity and Checkout: \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n \n \n porch-dogs-live-chc quantity\n	\n	\n\n Go To Checkout\n\n \n \n Buy with

SUMMARY:Das Corazones: Sunday August 29
DESCRIPTION:Das Corazones\nThe Corazones are a versatile roots-rock band based in Calgary Alberta. These guys pour their heart into every performance. The Corazones’ songs draw inspiration from those mornings when you want to kiss the beautiful person you woke up next to\, but have yet to gargle with mouthwash. They write songs about small towns\, love\, loneliness\, and coffee. Actually\, a lot of songs about coffee. They spent serious amounts of time learning to recreate the squeaks and hums from those 70’s albums you love so that they can make songs that make you want to dance while somehow also leaving you with the desire to slam your bedroom door\, put on your headphones\, and wait for your parents to figure out where they went wrong. The Corazones love 60’s funk\, 70’s folk\, Canadiana and all the noise in between. While their shows are powerfully fun and light-hearted\, their lyrics poetically examine the beautiful intricacies of life\, love\, family\, and song. They want to invite you to come see them play live. You’ll probably want to dance. If they’re playing outside your kids will dance and you’ll realize it’s way more fun if you join them. They’ll play a bunch of songs that you know you like\, some songs you kinda remember liking the one time you heard them\, and lots of songs that you may never have heard before\, but that you’d like to have around so you can hear them again. Don might even tell his joke. Make sure to talk to them after the show too. They’re good like that. Clayton can tell you about the new song he wrote during the performance\, Matt could use a hand loading up\, and Dennis has an innate ability to find a dram of good scotch pretty much anywhere someone is breathing air. They’re good at making people wish they’d invited that other friend who would have really liked the show. Lucky for them\, you’ll have lots of chances to do just that.Outdoor Lawnchair series – Stageless LIVE Performance \nCommunity Greenspace-Bring smiles\, lawnchair\, water & hat \nBest air quality  and “Calgary’s largest natural dancefloor” \nSunday August 29 @ 2 PM$5 Ticket Holds – PWC at the show \nRSVP to:   calgaryhouseconcerts@gmail.com \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $5 Seat Hold (limited seating)Select Ticket Quantity and Checkout: \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Out of stock

DESCRIPTION:Scott Cook and the Second Chances\nI’m absolutely thrilled to have my friend Scott Cook come for an outdoor lawnchair concert Friday\, July 23. One of my favourites both as a songwriter & fellow human of the planet \nTo enjoy one of Scott’s live performances is an absolute ‘must see’ if he is in your neighborhood.  My kind of medicine. \nHis introduction of house concerts to me in 2011 is one of the primary reasons for Calgary House Concerts in ’21. \nThis time around\, Scott is travelling with the Second Chances again so big magic is coming! \nOutdoor Lawnchair series – Stageless LIVE Performance \nCommunity Greenspace-Bring smiles\, lawnchair\, water & hat \nBest air quality  and “Calgary’s largest natural dancefloor” \nFriday July 23 @ 7 PM\n$5 Ticket Holds – PWC at the show \n  \nRSVP to:   calgaryhouseconcerts@gmail.com \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $5 Seat Hold (limited seating)\nSelect Ticket Quantity and Checkout: \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n \n \n porch-dogs-live-chc quantity\n	\n	\n\n Go To Checkout\n\n \n \n Buy with\n \n \n\n \n\n \n \n\n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n OR\nRSVP us by completing this form. \n[ninja_form id=9] \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Scott Cook\nPrairie Balladeer\, Awestruck Vagabond\nAlberta troubadour Scott Cook toured almost incessantly across Canada\, the US\, Europe\, Asia\, Australia\, New Zealand and elsewhere from 2007 until 2020\, when the pandemic made living in a van less appealing. While averaging 150 shows and a dozen summer festivals every year\, he also managed to release seven albums of straight-talking\, keenly observant verse along the way. His latest collection Tangle of Souls comes packaged in a cloth-bound\, 240-page hardcover book of road stories and ruminations\, equal parts introspection and insurrection. The album spent two weeks at #1 on Alberta’s province-wide community radio network CKUA. Its second single “Say Can You See” was the second most-played song of 2020 on Folk Alliance International’s folk radio charts\, and won top honours for the folk category in 2020’s UK Songwriting Competition and Great American Song Contest. \nThis summer he’s back on the road with his trusty shipmates Bramwell Park on banjo\, mandolin and harmony vocals\, and Melissa Walker on upright bass and harmonies\, believing more than ever that songs can change your life\, and your life can change the world. \n“Scott Cook’s seventh ‘love letter’ to the world is all strings and beauty\, a 12-song agnostic endorsement of love over fear… It doesn’t condemn\, it summons to one fire… Of all his records this one simply feels the best. ✭✭✭✭✭” – Fish Griwkowsky\, The Edmonton Journal \n“Damn\, this is a gorgeous album. Scott Cook’s voice — vocally and lyrically — is as clear-eyed\, optimistic\, and straightforward as ever… Tangle of Souls is the medicine we could all use right now.” – Rachel Cholst\, Adobe and Teardrops \n“He sings his heart and soul\, and in doing so lets light flood into your own… He has a good eye for imagery\, a gentle human touch\, a wry sense of humour\, a whole lot of integrity\, a warm\, rugged voice and a bunch of memorable lines… Truly one of Woody Guthrie’s children.” – RnR Magazine \nWebsite: www.scottcook.net\nFacebook: www.facebook.com/scottcooksongs\nInstagram:www.instagram.com/scottcooksongs\nBandcamp: scottcook.bandcamp.com\nYoutube: www.youtube.com/scottcooksongs

SUMMARY:Scott Ainslie Sunday March 1\, 2020
DESCRIPTION:CHC welcomes Scott Ainslie to the “House”. Steeped in traditional music\, Ainslie is a renowned acoustic blues guitarist\, singer and songwriter. He learned southern old-time ballads\, banjo and fiddle from senior musicians in North Carolina and West Virginia and blues from his black elders in North Carolina\, Virginia\, South Carolina\, Georgia and Mississippi: his roots are deep. \n“Ainslie is a beautiful stylist who respects the country blues and acoustic blues music\, feels it deep down to his soul\, and understands its essence.” \nSunday\, March 1\, 2020 @ 4:00 PM\n\nReserve Your Tickets for Scott Ainslie Now!\nDoor goes to the artist \n$20.00Go To Checkout	\n \n \n\nScott Ainslie\nAn excerpt from Scott’s Bio: \nScott Ainslie’s mother found him at the family piano picking out melodies from the records she listened to during the day when he was three years old. He’s been a musician all his life. \nA Phi Beta Kappa and honors graduate of Washington & Lee University\, Ainslie came of age during the Civil Rights era\, and cultivated a powerful affinity for cross-cultural exchange. He has studied with elder musicians on both sides of the color line – in the Old-Time Southern Appalachian fiddle and banjo traditions\, as well as Black Gospel and Blues. He plays this music with affection\, authority\, and power. \nArmed with a variety of instruments – vintage guitars\, a fretless gourd banjo\, a one-string\, homemade diddley bow (aka cigar box guitar) and carefully chosen historical personal anecdotes of his encounters with senior musicians across the South – Ainslie brings the history\, roots music\, and sounds of America alive. \nAinslie has spent more than 30 years looking for the right story\, the right set of facts\, the right piece of history\, to introduce a song. He offers a personality\, a moment in history\, a vignette to entice you into a song and to give that song a chance to wake and breathe among us like a living thing. \nOn stage\, in educational teaching concerts\, workshops\, and school residencies\, Ainslie explores the African and European roots of American music and culture. His easy\, conversational way with audiences and cross-disciplinary approach to the music consistently garners rave reviews from presenters\, audiences\, students\, and teachers\, alike. He is a masterful and thoughtful historian\, storyteller\, and musician. \nWebsite: cattailmusic.com \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nFacebook: www.facebook.com/CattailMusic

SUMMARY:Ken Stead Sun February 16th
DESCRIPTION:Calgary House Concerts presents Ken Stead\nKen Stead already has a firm foothold in the Canadian roots community\, having graced the grassy stages and sessions of Edmonton Folk Fest\, Canmore Folk Fest\, and North Country Fair\, as well as rowdier venues like Main Stage Big Valley Jamboree\, the Calgary Stampede Coke Stage and Wild Mountain Festival. Whether playing solo\, or with his 5 piece band\, Ken Stead makes every room feel like home. A generous demeanor\, a delicate wit\, and an empathetic understanding of audiences of all shapes\, his performances are as true and honest as the songs themselves. \nSunday\, February 16\, 2020 @ 4:00 PM\n\nReserve Your Tickets for Ken Stead Now!\nDoor goes to the artist \n$25.00Go To Checkout	\n \n \n\nKen Stead\nAn excerpt from Ken’s Bio: \nKen is known for silencing a room to a whisper\, but with his new release\, Civil War\, he proves capable of starting an uproar. \n“Unfinished is a quick 26 minute listen\, and each time it finishes spinning in my stereo I find myself disappointed there isn’t more. The albums pace\, easy rhythms\, sweet melodies and the softness of Kens early morning voice makes you want to curl up with a loved one while “Unfinished” is playing in the background.” \nElizabeth Wilkie – Fort Saskatchewan Record \n“The music: The country- and folk-tinged tracks on this EP by Wyoming (Mich.) singer-songwriter Ken Stead\, a native of Canada\, cover the gamut in charming\, acoustic fashion: politics/social activism\, love and lost love.” \nJohn Sinkevics – Grand Rapids Press \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nWebsite: www.kenstead.net\nReverbNation: www.reverbnation.com/kenstead\nYouTube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCU6eVXNb2MHE5IuHuNxTc-w/videos\nFacebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Ken-Stead/129609523882224

SUMMARY:The Deeds: November 9\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:Looking forward to the last show of 2019 coming up in November. \nBy the looks of things we definitely have top end memories coming. Stoked to host for this group of 5 from Winnipeg lead by Dan Scram. \nKicking off their tour here atCalgary House Concerts \nSaturday\, November 9 @ 7:00 PM\n\nReserve Your Tickets for The Deeds Now!\nTHE DEEDS \n\nDeeds not words. Canadian lead singer and songwriter Dan Scram often gets asked how he came up with the name The Deeds: “The Deeds means actions not words\, service without boasting.” \nThis is a mantra he tries to live by in his day-to-day and it is precisely this type of honest approach to life that he also takes to his songwriting. While his band has gone through a few personnel changes and stylistic approaches over the years\, Dan feels he’s finally found the soulful roots-rock sound he’s been looking for. \nWith multi-instrumentalist (keys\, accordion\, woodwinds) Jeremy Rusu (Ron Paley Big Band\, Calvin Volrath)\, lead guitar player Pierre Freynet (The Lenny Chet Breau Band)\, drummer Brennan Saul (Brasstronaut)\, and veteran bassist Jordan Gentle on his team\, the band chemistry is tangible and Dan’s songs really come to life. \nA third\, live-off-the-floor studio album is currently in the works\, set to be released later this year. A follow-up tour will have The Deeds leaving their hometown of Winnipeg\, Manitoba\, & touring western Canada.

DESCRIPTION:Equal parts fast-paced and soulful\, 5-piece modern-folk Americana act\, The Way Down Wanderers\, draw listeners in with energy\, originality and soulful generosity. Playing\, performing and writing together for just 3 short years\, the Wanderers have built an enthusiastic and fast-growing following. Youthful and professionally trained\, these young men captivate audiences with soaring instrumentals\, foot stomping sing-alongs and a lively stage show and have created a buzz for themselves with their unplugged\, off-stage encores and propensity for performing self-titled\, “restSTOMPS” – free acoustic sets at rest & truck stops along their tour routes. The band’s debut\, self-titled album\, produced by Mike Marsh of the Avett Brothers and recorded at Sonic Ranch in El Paso TX\, is now available wherever music is sold. \nInternational Song Writing Competition finalist\,“Dead Birds\,” is available on Spotify\, iTunes and wherever digital music is sold. \nFront-men and founders\, Austin and Collin\, met in their hometown of Peoria\, IL when they joined the same folk band and embarked on their first tour at the ages of 14 and 18 years old. The two became fast friends and soon began writing music together\, ultimately forming The Way Down Wanderers when Collin was 16 and Austin\, 20 years old.
