Randy Ouston first picked up an acoustic guitar as a youth, inspired by his brother’s guitar lessons. Discovering his natural talent for music, he soon added electric and steel guitar, mandolin, banjo, keyboards and upright bass to his skill set, along with learning how to sing. He also wrote songs.
Citing Neil Young, Simon & Garfunkle, the Beatles, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan among his early influences, Randy O’s strong melodic sensibility, rich textures and broad stylistic approach create a distinctive musical voice.
Whether appearing solo or leading his own group, Randy O captures audiences with his energetic, eclectic performances. He’s been a featured performer at clubs and festivals throughout western Canada, including a mainstage performance at the 2010 Calgary International Blues Festival.
Randy O is a gifted and prolific songwriter, his impressive catalogue of originals including blues, folk, country, pop, rock, jazz and children songs. He’s composed for theatre and children’s productions and is currently writing original songs for a studio recording of his debut CD.
